Heavy and toxic metals analysis from effluent of paper mill, based on cotton comber and cotton linter raw materials
نویسنده
چکیده
The present study deals with effluent analysis of a paper mill using cotton comber and cotton linter as raw material for paper manufacturing process. The effluents generated at different stages were collected. The fibrous sludge samples recovered in different section of mill were also collected. The inorganic parameters i.e. alkalinity, hardness, sulphate, chloride, phosptahe, sodium, potassium, iron, copper, nickel, mercury etc., were estimated. The heavy metal content of the untreated and treated effluents and the sludge samples are determined by the atomic absorption spectrophotometer. The inorganic parameters as well as heavy metal analysis results were interpreted and compared with the permissible limits.

Vegetable ingredients of dusts in textile and nontextile cotton industries.
The objective was to determine if garnetting and raw cotton dusts differed in botanical composition. Estimates of dust composition were based on the contents of gross trash in cotton raw materials and the potential of each gross trash component to be converted into less than 10 mum particulate by a laboratory abrasion test. All types of garnetting dusts are predicted to contain a lower percent ...

The aim of the study was to investigate distribution, enrichment and accumulation of heavy metals in soil and Trigonella foenum-graecum (var. Pusa Early Bunching) after fertigation with paper mill effluent. Doses of paper mill effluent viz. 5%, 10%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% were used for fertigation of T. foenum-graecum along with bore well water (control). The results revealed that paper mill ef...

The currently recommended concentrations of aftertreatments containing heavy metals often prevent a textile finisher from meeting effluent discharge regulations. This study involved optimizing the application procedures and concentrations of copper sulfate for copperizing direct dyes on cotton and of tartar emetic (potassium antimony tartrate) for insolubulizing tannic acid on dyed nylon. The r...
متن کاملRemoval of Heavy Metals by Using Activated Carbon Produced from Cotton Stalks
Utilization of agricultural waste to produce valuable products has opened opportunities in Egypt to minimize serious public health risks from exposure to dangerous fumes that come from burning the agricultural wastes in open fields. In this study, activated carbon produced locally from cotton stalks was examined for the removal of target heavy metal contaminants from water and wastewater. Adsor...
